Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist provides accounting support to a number of positions within Hotchkiss Insurance. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting and Accounting, you will work directly with Account Executives, Account Managers, and Account Associates as well as accounting personnel for insurance carriers and brokers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct Bill Reconciliation for Full Pay Personal and Commercial Line Statements
  • Retrieve commissions statements from carrier portals to match bank receipts
  • Handle Agency Bill Reconciliation
  • Manage Bi-weekly accounts payable and client payable check runs
  • Manage daily treasury function of posting receipts in Epic and creating batch scan of checks
  • Research troubled policies as requested by the support team
  • Track daily receipts of commissions paid by ACH into commissions bank account
  • Track receipt of commissions statements against receipts received in commissions bank account.
  • Research commissions received that are not listed on commissions statement data dictionary.
  • Ensure agency bill invoices are organized and added to the proper agency folder.
  • Ensure trade invoices are organized and added to the proper work folder 
Qualifications and Experience
  • General accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP
  • College degree with 3 years of relevant accounting experience or 6 plus years in corporate accounting in leu of degree
  • Strong analytical, organization, and time management skills
  • Proficient Excel skills
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate with Executive team and internal/external customers.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of data
  • Ability to work independently to effectively solve problems
  • Familiarity with Applied Epic (Agency Management System) preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
